About Dial M For Modern
Dial M For Modern is a beloved Chicago vintage shop specializing in authentic mid-century modern furniture, art, and home decor from the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. Located in the West Town neighborhood along the Grand Avenue Design District at 1818 W Grand Avenue, the boutique is the passion project of owner Timothy Burkhart, whose keen eye for American and Danish modern design has made the shop a go-to destination for vintage enthusiasts across the city.
What Makes Them Special
Tim personally curates every item in the shop, traveling across the United States and Europe to source one-of-a-kind pieces that he then restores in-house. Because every item is unique and inventory moves quickly, no two visits to Dial M For Modern are ever the same. The shop also keeps things fun and eclectic, mixing in funky '70s pieces and unexpected finds alongside pristine mid-century classics.
Designers & Brands
The showroom regularly features works by acclaimed designers and manufacturers including:
Adrian Pearsall – sculptural sofas, walnut coffee tables, and statement chairs
Paul McCobb – Planner Group and Directional furniture lines
Milo Baughman – chrome-framed chairs and modular seating
Danish Modern designers – teak credenzas, rosewood tables, and sculpted lounge chairs
American studio pottery – curated ceramics and decorative objects from the period
