About The Good Mod
Founded in 2006 by Spencer Staley, The Good Mod is Portland's largest mid-century modern furniture destination, occupying a sprawling 20,000-square-foot showroom and fabrication shop on West Burnside Street. The store buys, sells, restores, and custom-builds mid-century modern and industrial furniture, offering a full-service experience from sourcing vintage originals to crafting bespoke pieces. Their team of multi-disciplinary artisans guides clients through every phase of the furnishing process.
What Makes Them Special
The Good Mod is far more than a showroom — it's a working workshop where skilled craftspeople perform expert wood and metal repair, refinishing, custom upholstery, and full restorations on-site. Their client list reads like a who's who of Portland's creative industry, from Wieden+Kennedy to Nike. They also offer furniture rental for photo shoots, film sets, and home staging, plus CNC fabrication services for truly custom projects.
Designers & Brands
The showroom regularly features works by acclaimed designers and manufacturers including:
Charles & Ray Eames — iconic lounge chairs, shell chairs, and molded plywood pieces
Danish Modern Masters — teak and walnut furniture from leading Scandinavian workshops
Heywood-Wakefield — streamlined American modern furniture from the mid-20th century
Adrian Pearsall — sculptural sofas and walnut coffee tables
Paul McCobb — clean-lined modular shelving and seating
